In my clinic, we perform a Japanese-style of acupuncture taught traditionally by blind healers. This style of acupuncture is called hari, and is based primarily on touch diagnosis through observation of pulse and abdomen. The largest difference between Hari practitioners and Chinese acupuncturists is their sensitivity to touch, energy, and gentle needle-techniques. It is largely the practitioner’s acute sensitivity to ki (or life force) that allows diagnosis and treatment to be more-gentle than Chinese style of acupuncture. In fact, hari practitioners are trained in non-invasive and non-insertive needle techniques. We can “feel” if an acupuncture point is “alive” to receive energy of a needle, or if the point is closed and not necessary for the patient. We have another language of palpation taught by the blind masters from Japan, and most other practitioners have no exposure to these teachings or the ability to demonstrate such technique. Hari fundamentally aims at strengthening the life force, and as such, this art is unique in its characteristic to treat any illness, regardless of whether Western medicine would classify your condition as being of concern. Whether internal medicine, pediatrics, gynecology, cardiology, pain maintenance or whatever your diagnosis. First we make the life force stronger, and then we can better treat your symptoms.
No matter how difficult your diagnosis or condition may be, please come for regular treatment because miracles through the art of hari are happening. Keep your faith and hope alive, and we will try our best together to come to a place of benevolence and health.
